new year in prague

what%26#39;s it like in Prague for New Year? partying on the sreets? fireworks? for New Year%26#39;s Eve can anyone recommend a lively restaurant with a good atmosphere close to the action? Thanks

Lots of partying on the streets and squares, quite dangerous as people throw fire works at others, some are aggressive. La Provence is right in the middle of the action, but it costs. Check out www.kampagroup.com, these restaurants are the party places.

Wonderful experience, done it last year and booked the SOVOVY MLYNY restaurant in the kampa park area.

the food and company was great and at new years we all went out on to the terrace and watched the fireworks on charles bridge, great view, and had a snowball fight with the passing pleasure boat, it was wonderful shuffling through the snow and the happy people across charles bridge around 2am new years morning,.

booked through pragueexperience.com and whilst it was not cheap it was worth it. then we went to the new years day concert in the rudolfinium hall in the afternoon, truely memorable. Would recommend it to anyone

wouldn%26#39;t recommend la provence. To see the fireworks you need to be down by the river and to get from the restaurants through the old town square and the crowds to the river is not for the faint hearted. Going to a party on a riverside restauant like Sovovy mlyny isn%26#39;t cheap, but it cuts out much of the danger of watching with the heaving crowds

Take a look at Hanavsky Pavilon (www.hanavskypavilon.cz). It will have one of the best views at the firework time. You%26#39;ll be able to see all the bridge stuff and for miles around but not be a target yourself as you are up the hill. The food leans toward French but, it%26#39;s worth it for a one-time splash.
