I appreciate that non smoking is mainly an alien concept in the Czech Republic but are there establishments in Prague that are either wholly non smoking or have effective segregated non smoking areas? I realise it is not easy but maybe nice one evening to escape the fug?

This chain of restaurants does not even sell cigarettes, though they have small smoking areas: wow.praguefinedining.cz. Most of the good restaurants try to separate smoking and non, but the pubs and bars are usually quite smoky.

Sometimes you find the separate %26quot;non-smoking%26quot; room is also used as a function room (as in the case of the Louvre). So sometimes there is no option. When working in Prague I got used to eating earlier in the evening when restaurants were not crowded. Restaurants like Pravda have three or four separated sections and they often keep one of these as non-smoking.

It%26#39;s definitely hard to escape the smoke - I have just come back from a cafe, and my clothes smell horrible! For completely non-smoking restaurants, try Albio Restaurant - (Truhlářská 20, a little out of the way, near Revoluční street) - the restaurant is organic, and is mainly vegan, although it has recently started serving meat. The food is very good, although the atmosphere can be a bit dead sometimes. Or, try Lehká Hlava restaurant (Boršov 2, near Charles Bridge). It%26#39;s serves vegetarian food, and has very interesting decor, and a good atmosphere. Also, you can try a Čajovna - a tearoom - there are lots of them dotted around town, and they are nearly always exclusively non-smoking. A good central one is Dobrá Čajovna on Wencelsas Square (number 14), in the courtyard. Just bear in mind, they don%26#39;t serve alcohol.
