Bus option from the Airport

Hi everyone, I have posted on here before to find out the best way downtown from the airport and was recommended to take the taxi. I understand there%26#39;s a bus which is far cheaper - does anyone have any experiences of this??

We are staying at the Elite hotel on Ostrovni - very near the Narodni Trida metro stop.

How difficult can it be?!

In your case it is best to get the 100. This goes to the metro station at Zlicin. From here you stay on the metro until getting off at Narodni Trida. Take the exit for Spalena and as you get to the main road you%26#39;ll see the side road called Ostrovni right in front of you. Elite is 20 metres into the road on the left.

Stamp 1x20kc ticket for you and 1x10kc ticket for any large bag.

if there are a few of you you and depending on your luggage might find a transfer to/from the Hotel makes life a little easier - try http://www.prague-airport-shuttle.com

By bus though take the 100, 179 or 225 buses which go to stations on the B Line - you get a B line underground to Narodni Trida.

Get a suitable pass at the airport and you can use it on the bus/tram/undreground during your stay.

There is a nice little bar on Na Perstyne, other side of the Narodni to Tescos called the U Medvidku (The Little Bears).

All good suggestions. Medvidku dark beer is very nice (brews its own). If you want a younger crowd then walk past the U Medvidku and take the next left %26quot;Bartolomejska%26quot;. Just over on the right is the Konvict Pub,. Bit more lively and less tourists with 1 litre glasses.

Aha...yes I%26#39;m partial to a Černý anywhere really :-)

The Konvict would be new to me, one to look at next time - any idea what Beers they have on.

I will be arriving alone in Praha in 10 days and will go to Hotel Roma in Mala Strana. I know I should get off at Ujezd tram stop but I wonder in this case, whether I should take bus No100 to Zlicin and change or No119 to Dejevice and change? Thanks in advance if anyone can answer.

Is the Medvidku own brewed dark beer something new - when I%26#39;ve been there I only remember them doing Budvar

|||

Kat2 - one of the local experts might know which might be best but either would involve a couple of changes by the look of it:

100 to Zlicin, undergound to Andel and then a short ride on the 12 or 20 tram North

119 to Dejvicka, undergound to Malostranska then a short hop on either the 12, 20, 22 or 23 tram South

Floydman - to be fair I really meant the small bar that is just before the Medvidiku although they seem almost linked to each other - is it the Pivni Bar ? It has plenty of copper pipework above the bar.

They have had a Cerny Hora Dark on the times we have visited.

I guess the Medvidku might brew its own as well as selling Budvar ?

JC, thanks very much for your comment. I just took a look at public transport map of Praha and started thinking two changes may be necessary in any case. That%26#39;s a bit too many for a visitor like me but I still might do one or the other. I like taking buses and trams and this is not my first time to the city, although last time was like 7 years ago. Only I have not stayed in Mala Strana area. A plus is my luggage will be small and quite manageable.

In your case the 119 option to Dejvicka then get off the Metro at Malostranska and get the tram would be quicker by about 12 minutes. If you%26#39;ve got light managable luggage then I would consider the 100 to Zlicin then get off at Andel and as well as the No12 tram it%26#39;s a reasonable 15 minute walk along the main road so you%26#39;ll get an idea of what%26#39;s around.

For the Medvidku, look out for X-beer.
