...and where would you eat??
I am actually staying for 5 nights in the Eurostara Thalis hotel in Wenceslao Square!! I need some ideas of what to do %26amp; where to eat!
Thanks,
Shaun

eurostars thalia is on narodni trida, not on wenceslas square.
What you would try to cram in a one day visit to Prague is very different from what you would do for a day in a five day stay. Where we can recommend you to eat depends much on what level of comfort, type of food, price, you want.

Hi,
Is the hotel near Wenclas Sq?
Regarding food, we like good food %26amp; comfort is a bonus! I would like to see a mix of restaurants - a few night casual, and few nights more %26#39;fine dining%26#39; style - somewhere you can get dressed up for!
For drink I would like to see some Czech bars - we have enough Irish pubs in Dublin!! A bit of music is good, but not a disco!!
Thanks,
Orla

try www.praguepubs.co.uk or www.classiccitybrew.com/prague for some authentic Czech pubs and beerhalls.
have alook at Unclegus%26#39;s trip to Prague on the GO lists to see what I thought of some of them.

Hi Unclegus!
I has a look at your photos of Prague %26amp; there was one with loads of bones %26amp; skeletons...what was that?
Cheers,
Shaun

It%26#39;s the Bone Church in Sedlac, just outside Kutna Hora an hour on the train from Prague, there is a bit about it in my trip report.

not a big place but very interesting.

hotel is about 15 minutes walk from wenceslas square. What the obsession with wenceslas square - it is the place to avoid in prague, not to be.
good Czech pubs (all of which serve food) within 5 minutes walk of the hotel are u medvicku on na perstyne street, and u vejvodu and u zlateho tygra further down on jilska street

Hi, can you recommend any traditional pubs with a log fire and good food, as we will miss the Christmas markets now the dates have changed want to feel a bit Christmassy! Also we are staying at the Tyl, are there any good restaurants in that area? Thanks!

Hi,
Stayed at Eurostars Thalia beginning of November, staff very friendly and breakfast is good.
If you like fine dining Kampa Park restuarant is very good. It%26#39;s in Mala Strana it%26#39;s on the river with a great view of Charles bridge. Tho only drawback was it seemed full of English and quite pricey.
The other restuarant I liked was Pravda it%26#39;s part of the same group but slightly cheaper.
I have heard for something special the restuarant in the Four Seasons hotel is really good but expensive.
The hotel booked Kampa Park for us and were very helpful.
Word of advice there is a taxi rank outside the hotel I got ripped off using it. Better to get the hotel to phone for a cab.. Or use City taxi company or Profit. Do not change money at the exchange kiosks on Na Prikope, you will get a rotten exchange rate. Avoid Wencelas Sq and enjoy everthing else it%26#39;s fantastic!

don%26#39;t know too many pubs with an open fire apart from Molly Malones Irish pub in the centre.
Two points on sandbetweenmytoes. Kampa group and the people who run Pravda are completely different. I always say the best taxi company is AAA. Their telephone number is 14014 and they speak English - just ring them up, tell them where you are and where you want to go and a taxi appears in a few minutes.
Some good neighbourhood restaurants nearby the Tyl. Cafe Sahara in namestio miru, osmicka in Balbinova street and nearer to town, pivovarsky dum on the corner of lipova and Jecna streets, all within 10 minutes walk of the hotel

Gosh Peb7, upon re reading my post realised you are right. Meant to say The Square was part of the same group as Kampa Park,.
Must have been all the alcohol I drank. Anyway The Square is ok had a resonable evening there but preferred Pravda!
