bus station to train station

I will arrive in Ceske Budejovice from Cesky Krumlov by bus. Will then need to transfer to train station traveling on to Plzen.

I cannot find anywhere the location of bus station and train station. Does anyone know the location of both and how much time I will need to transfer? Are they in walking distance? Or do I need taxi?

Thanks for any help.

For a description of how to use the bus and train system in the Czech Republic, go to to www.castleview.cz and click the link on the left side of the page %26quot;From Prague Airport%26quot; under %26quot;1) Getting Here.%26quot; The second paragraph of that web page talks about the main bus and train stations in Ceske Budejovice.

Be advised that since the main bus staion in Ceske Budejovice is undergoing complete reconstruction, it will not help to know where it is located! The bus from Cesky Krumlov to Ceske Budejovice does NOT even stop at the temporary bus station in Ceske Budejovice. It stops on a side street across the main boulevard from the temporary bus station. When you leave this bus at this stop as everyone exits, walk in the same direction the bus is heading until you cross the main boulevard. Turn to your left (the temporary bus station is to the right side), and walk less than a stone%26#39;s throw to the main train station. There are several public entrances to the train station, but if you enter by the second public entrance, the ticket counters will be to your left and the large electronic board listing departing trains will be straight ahead.

Make sure to check online the bus/train timetables to Plzen for your EXACT day of travel since workday schedules differ from weekend/holiday schedules.

I forgot to mention that although the timetables list the walk between the bus stop in Ceske Budejovice and the train station as 10 minutes, I would urge you to walk briskly to give yourself time to buy the train ticket to Prague in the Ceske Budejovice train station. If the bus from Cesky Krumlov is delayed by rush hour traffic and I may miss the train, I walk past the train station ticket counter and buy my ticket on the train from the conductor. Just have about 200 CZK out to show the conductor so he will not think you are trying to ride without paying. An added touch is to hand the conductor your used bus ticket from Cesky Krumlov showing that you had a close connection and did not have time to stop at the ticket counter. The conductor charges a bit more money than the ticket counter, but it is better than missing an infrequent train. On weekends and holidays second class on the train (and buses) can be packed with standing room only. In the Czech Republic first class train travel does not cost that much more (compared to Western Europe) than second class and guarantees you a place to sit down if second class is full.
