Greetings! Can anyone help decide which of these two hotels would be a better choice?
The TripAdvisor reviews have been of much assistance, and though the Jalta ranks higher than the Adria on the TripAdvisor popularity ranking, I%26#39;m inclined to believe the comments for the Adria were slightly more positive.
Thank you in advance for the input.

As an addendum to my initial post, we are reserving our accomodation as part of a package -- the Prague Winter Festival -- and will probably be unable to find as centrally located an accomodation, but I have also noticed the comments critical of Wenceslas Square in recent posts. How much of a factor will the %26quot;seediness%26quot; be in January?

I avoid the square if I can (crowded, pick pockets). The hotels are both ok, Jalta has the better restaurant %26quot;Hot%26quot;, with a lot of evening entertainment. I don%26#39;t think that you as a couple will have problems with the %26quot;seediness%26quot;.

My mom and I always visit Prague in January and we have never encountered any problems on the square after dark but I have seen people being approched, just ignore them they will soon go on to pester someone else.

I appreciate the advice.
We%26#39;re a couple that would stay in Stare Mesto if we could, or even in Mala Strana (if not for the icy hills and stairsteps in January and the centrality to concert venues, which are mostly located near Old and New Towns). That%26#39;s why if Wenceslas Square has gotten too gaudy or brash -- vibrant is okay, though -- I would be concerned.
I was there in the summer of 2004, but don%26#39;t remember Wenceslas Square as easily as I%26#39;d like. I guess I%26#39;m trying to avoid the typical, downtown, commercial, dirty environment that seems to be so common among large cities. It%26#39;d be nice to feel like we were in Prague, you know what I mean?

Do you only have the choice of 2 hotels on this package?

No, we have the choice of others, but these two are the closest to Old Town. We narrowed it down by looking at the others in our price range: Ramada Grand Symphony Hotel, Corinthia Panorama Hotel, Maria Faulkensteiner, Yasmin, Don Giovanni, or Diplomat Hotel. In most cases, the accomodations were too far from the concert venues, historical sights, and Stare Mesto, or too different a style or feel from what we were seeking.

I would go for the Yasmin - on a quiet street running parallel to Wenceslas Square and has a good restaurant called Noodles.

Me too; I just had a look at the rooms, they are nice, clean, modern. The location is away from the crowds and yet down town. (For my German gusto they do Kaesespaetzle in the Noodles restaurants, hmmmm, yummie). My number two would be Falkensteiner Maria.

Well, thank you, to each of you. I have some food for thought, and I%26#39;ll take another look at the Yasmin.
Of course, if I am able to persuade the travel company to find a place for us in Old Town, which seems ideal, do you have any favorites? (I confess, I%26#39;ve not yet read the TripAdvisor reviews on these.)

Kaesespaetzle? Isn%26#39;t that the kind of thing you get cooked at mountain huts?
