Greetings, Forum members!
Has anybody spent New Year%26#39;s Eve (St. Sylvester%26#39;s Day) in Cesky Krumlov? I%26#39;m looking for opinions about it.
What I%26#39;ve found on the city%26#39;s website suggests there is a fireworks display, preceded by a municipal concert. I am wondering if celebrating there might be a bit more low-key than Prague (which is just fine), and just in general, what a night -- possibly that night -- in Cesky Krumlov might be like. We certainly appreciate the benefit of seeing the city after the day-trippers have gone home, and not having to rush through it. Also, the accomodations I%26#39;ve found so far seem quaint and charming.
Any other thoughts about New Year%26#39;s in Cesky Krumlov, or staying the night there, in general?

there is a fireworks display in cesky krumlov but it is not too much. Certainly it will be much quieter than in Prague and the view of the fireworks looking up to the castle will be good. It is well worth staying in Cesky krumlov overnight to see it after the day trippers have gone home and before they arrive, but I think that even with the crowds, the Prague fireworks win.
If you can be in a restaurant with a view, be in the castle gardens or on the Manesuv or Legii bridges, it isn%26#39;t too bad

Thank you for sharing, Peb. It sounds like Cesky Krumlov ought to be a fun way to get away from the crowds and enjoy the night on a smaller scale.
Dumb question, here: Are Manesuv and Legii bridges in Prague or Cesky Krumlov?

the bridges named are in prague. in cesky krumlov, the fireworks are lit from the gardens above the castle, so the best place ot watch is down in the old town. Much safer than in Prague

I will be staying with my girlfriend in Cesky Krumlov over New Year%26#39;s Eve as well (Dec 30-Jan 1). Have you heard of any special events in town for the holiday other than fireworks?

Jkamen11, as far as other events go, I%26#39;ve only heard of the St. Sylvester%26#39;s concert that evening. I found the information on the city website listed on the calendar.
