Are there any great crystal shops in Prague? Is it less expensive to buy over there as well. I would love to get a nice piece.

crystal is cheaper in Prague than in the US. You will see many good crystal shops down celetna street off the old town square and there is a good Bohemia crystal and Moser shop on the main na prikope shopping street running off Wenceslas Square. for many of the above pieces, Kotva department store on Narodni trida sells cheaper (it is where the locals shop), so go there to see if they have a piece before you finally buy if it is hand luggage size.
for larger pieces, the specialist glass shops will ship safely to the US. Kotva probably would do so as well, but it would probably be an awfully bureaucratic process arranging it there

Thanks for the info. I wll have to jot that down. : )

I%26#39;ve bought crystal here on my last 3 trips. Celetna Glass on (surprisingly) Celetna, between the powder gate and old town square is a great place to look at what%26#39;s available as they have a huge selection. Rott Crystal in the %26quot;small square%26quot; near old town square is also an excellent place to look. Peb is right, Kotva%26#39;s prices are a little less than Celetna Glass and Rott, but they (Celetna and Rott) will deliver to your hotel without extra charge (meaning you don%26#39;t have to cart it around with you all day). I would not say it is much cheaper than what you can find in the states. I bought a decanter for about $80US here and found it on ebay for slightly less. However, the pleasure of shopping in person and selecting overrode the difference, in my opinion.
Also, Celetna is running sales on selected items that are quite good -- 40 - 60% off.
Keep in mind that this stuff is very heavy to carry. I always bring a nearly empty duffel-type bag with me so I have room to carry my purchases home. This trip I%26#39;m bringing some porcelain pieces back with me. Good luck and have fun.

We saw one crystal shop after another...there is of course tradtional and also the very modern. There is a store called , Moser, at Wensalas Square that had just beautiful crystal...even if you just want to look.
|||
Moser is on na prikope street (opposite Hennes %26amp; Mauritz). Moser is expensive but unique

The Moser showroom itself was beautiful to look at...all the dark wood paneling..quiet atmosphere....the salespeople just let us alone to look. I was so impressed with the modern pieces we saw throught Prague. My friend bought a piece at one of those little shops up by the castle...it was a narrow little street and little ( and I mean little) doors into each shop...I think they said they used to be houses for soldiers hundreds of years ago?? We had to pay an entrance fee to go down the street but it was fun and the quality at the shops were good....even if only about 6 persons at a time could fit inside!
|||
the narrow street by the castle is the golden lane. They also sell a limited selection of Moser at the duty free shop at the airport

I had bought some Atlantis crystalware and they are just beautiful. There are quite a few outlets all over Lisbon. This is the Portuguese equivalent of Baccarat or Waterford. Really amazing quality.
Good Luck
