Prague visit next week

Can the local expert help me please. I have stayed twice in Prague but on the Castle side of river opposite National Theatre, but I have a chance of staying in Spalena 27, Praha 1 or Opatovicka 24, Praha 1, are these nice areas as we are mature ladies and dont want to stay near noisy clubs but dont mind nice restaurants and bars near Old Town Square. Thank you in anticipation for your help

The two streets you mention are in the New Town which is generally noisier and less atmospheric than the castle side of Prague. I would recommend that you completely avoid Spalena. It is quite seedy, and is on a very busy tram route both day and night (night trams from all over town converge here). Opatovicka is a bit better - the street is quieter, but there are a number of restaurants along it which are popular with a younger crowd - have seen English stag parties along there in the evenings.

I would suggest that you stick to areas you already know. You could try and find somewhere to stay in Malostrana (the lesser quarter) if you want to be a bit nearer to things, but not near noisy clubs. It is quieter in the evenings, and is much more atmospheric. However, I would recommend that you avoid Nerudova (the main street that goes up to the castle) as it is always full of tourists!

opatovicka is a good street, as klarka says. mostly full of locals - too far out for the average stag party. If you are staying self catering, it is 5 minutes walk from tesco, which is useful for provisions (the castle area doesn%26#39;t have too many supermarkets)

If Spalena 27 is the %26quot;U dvou Zlatych Klicu%26quot; (two golden keys) then I would avoid it. When the bums get moved away from the Narodni trida metro then they use the passageway needed to get to the front door of the hotel. Opatovicka 24 is the Velryba Cafe, I didn%26#39;t realise they had accommodation as well. The Hotel Jerome House is almost opposite the cafe (recommended).
