Christmas in Prague

My husband and I are visiting Prague for the first time at Christmas - arriving on 24th at around 9.00pm, and leaving on 27th pm. We are staying near the Old Town Square at the Hotel Ventana and have a few questions:

1) recommendations for eating late on 24th near our hotel.

2) recommendations for eating on Christmas Day.

3) live music events - we love any kind of live music and wonder if there are any special events that ought not to be missed.

Thank you for your replies.

Beware on 24th and 25th, most restaurants have special christmas menus - the main Czech Christmas meal is on the evening of 24th December, not at lunchtime on 25th.

Depends what you want to eat on 25th. If you are after turkey (but most likely without the timmings), the Intercontinetal and Marriott hotels and Red, Hot %26amp; Blues restaurant, all within 10 minutes walk for the hotel normally serve such meals, but you need to book.

Don%26#39;t know what you mean by eating late on 24th, as many restaurants will close early. Restaurants nearby the hotel which are normally open late are Pravda on Parizska street, Lary Fary or L%26#39;Angolo on Dlouha street or Celnice on V Celnice street. Whatever, just as in England, you would struggle to walk into a restaurant without a reservation at Chirstmas, I would book both on 24th and 25th .

As for music, nothing plays on 24th, but there are concerts and opera at all three opera houses on 25th and 26th, including in time honoured fashion, the Nutcracker at the State Opera house. go to www.ticketsbti.cz for more details

Thank you for your posting. We are not keen for Turkey -just a special local meal for Christmas Day with some atmosphere.
