english notes

How easy is it to change english notes in Prague. When we were in Turkey a few weeks ago we took Cyldesdale bank notes and they were not accepted but most places we go we just take English notes and they are OK

Valid english notes are easy to change in Prague. Scottish notes, as you are aware, are not generally accepted abroad (including in most of England). Most people don%26#39;t know what they are and think they are forgeries

If you do take english bank notes I found they would not change any notes which had writing on them ( when you look you will be suprised hoe many have) or if there is any slight tear or damage. You really need to ask the bank here for new notes

Hi nsl123

Can%26#39;t comment on the Scottish Bank Notes but English are not a problem if in almost mint condition (no pun intended) - I agree with nanaphyl%26#39;s post.

Scottish notes are generally not accepted in Euroland except possibly the Costas. But why the need to bring cash?ATM%26#39;s are widely avaiable all over Europe.I have been using them for many years with no problems in the Czech Republic,Italy and Crete most recently.I am with Bank of Scotland and they charge £1.50 per withdrawl from an ATM in Europe.

I agree about the ATMs but most (UK based) people tend to take some GBPs with them when travelling. I travel within Europe a few times a year and also keep back any euros I might have left.

If any uk resident does a fair bit of travelling, and spending, I would suggest they look into the Nationwide Flex Account purely for their travel - nothing%26#39;s quite as cheap as free ( check it out).
