Just returned from Prague

I%26#39;ve just taken my wife to Prague for a long weekend for her Birthday, we loved it!

Arrived Saturday about 2:00pm having flown with EasyJet, AAA Taxi to hotel was 580Kc, Prague Centre Hotel was a little out of the city but just 5 mins walk from the Trams so very accessable.

We found the Czech people had no sense of humour but couldn%26#39;t fault them for bending over backwards in willingness to help.

We had a meal on a boat Saturday evening which was really good, food was excellent, jaz quartet was a little loud in such a small space but as we were able to escape up on deck it was ok. 3 hour trip was magical and very romantic.

Sunday we took an excursion to Kunta Hora. - our guide was really exceptional, the trip included the Bone Chapel Ossary, Mid day Meal (5 choices, all atypical Czech) Historical tour of Kunta Hora itself and visit to the Cathedral. Also included in the cost was a CD-ROM of pictures of places where camera%26#39;s weren%26#39;t allowed.

Monday we wandered as and where we were led, Charles Bridge, Jewish Quarter (slightly disapointing but also harrowing seeing all the Jewish Names on the walls of a synagogue). Old Town Square, Ride in a horse drawn coach, then taxi back to the airport for a delayed EasyJet home to London.

We have previously been to Paris, Egypt, USA, Cyprus, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Moscow and Taiwan. For a long weekend, Prague has been the best, we would have enjoyed spending longer but we had to work.

The only downside for us was that everyone had said how cheap everything was, whilst it was slightly cheaper, most things were still comparable ie: Coca-Cola, Tourist excursions etc.

We would definitely recommend Prague as a place to visit.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

I notice that you stayed in Prague Centre Hotel, what was it like?

I%26#39;m staying there on 10th December with my Boyfriend, Auntie and Uncle. How did you find the breakfast? I%26#39;m easily pleased and will eat anything but my Uncle is very fussy, he%26#39;s a meat and two veg man!

Did you have tea/coffee making facilities in your room?

I%26#39;d be really grateful for any other info/pictures you have.

Thanks

J xx

Im off to Prague on the 22nd of this month and was thinking of doing the river/dinner trip and going on a visit to Kunta Hora so I was very interested in your comments. Could you let me know which company you used and did you book before you went and a rough idea of the price. I too love Prague and am looking forward to my 7th visit it seems there is always somewhere different to visit each time.

Thanks

Prague Centre Hotel is basic, clean and staff very helpful. Breakfast consisted of Frankfurters, cold meats %26amp; cheese, bread rolls, cerials, toast, juiced, Tea %26amp; Coffee and tha%26#39;s about it.....

Kunta Hora - there are a number of different options, one picks up just in front of the Astranomical Clock just before 10:00am every morning, which is the one we did, it includes the meal which was nice, costs about 1200 Czech each.

Boat trip we actually booked at the Hotel reception as it was our first night and we were just being too lazy to search for anything else. As we were picked up and dropped off at the Hotel it made the first evening special. cost about 1000 Czech each.

I%26#39;d have to dig out the actual reciepts to get the full costs but as I%26#39;m at work I can%26#39;t do that right now.

Hope that helps.

Ooops sorry forgot to say no tea making facilities in our room, couple of glasses, hair dryer in the bathroom, no toiletries (except liquid soap bolted to the wall by the sink and shower).

2 Single beds european style together made twin room.

As I said, basic, but staff were very friendly.

You can do the trip to Kutna Hora easily and a lot cheaper by train.

|||

we did find the food and drink excellent value. we went on our first night to the opera restaurnt near the opera house and had a fab meal with loads of wie for £25 a head. it really was special without being pretentious and the waiters were very friendly.

also had an excellent meal for £7 including 2 glasses of grog in cafe right next to charles bridge.

agree with what mendip6 says. Direct train from Prague to Kutna Hora costs 200 crowns return, as compared to 1200 crowns by a tour company. You can eat the whole restaurant in kutna hora for 1000 crowns
