Where to stay in Prague

Can you recommend a cosy Hotel to stay in for my husbands 60th early December. I would like somewhere with a bit of Character and within walking distance of places of interest. Not too expensive 4 star perhaps up to say £80 per night.( with a good breakfast as well).

You will need to get you skates on and book very soon, as December with its Christmas Markets and strong possibility of snow makes Prague a popular destination in December.

In my experience the smaller, cosy Hotels in good locations like Mala Strana e.g. The Charles and The Certovka have very very average breakfasts.

Cold %26#39;plastic%26#39; meats and cheese, tinned fruit, sweet watery squash-like fruit juice and a few pastry items.

The coffee is often barely drinkable.

However, for price, ambience and location they cant be beaten.

If a good breakfast is essential consider a good, but smallish Hotel Chain like The K%26amp;K Hotels.

There are 3 in various parts of Prague.

By the way be sure to take very comfortable flat shoes/boots and warm wet weather clothing to ensure you make the most of your stay in this wonderful city.

One other point, if you want a bath rather than a shower in your Hotel room, ensure the Hotel you book can accommodate you.

Many Hotels in Prague, (even 4 star), only have showers.

As you will be doing a lot of walking and will undoubtedly get foot-sore in beautiful Prague, a hot bath at the end of a long days sight-seeing is bliss!

Thanks very much for your very helpful reply, the flights are booked and I am now doing my homework on the hotels so that I can book ASAP. Your comments will be very useful (how did you know that a bath is one of my favourite luxuries). Thanks a lot.

i would think you would be extremely lucky to find a 4 star hotel costing 80 per night including a good breakfast within wlaking distance to the centre. this is three star territory.

Best Western moran may be worth looking at, but it is slightly more than 80 pounds a night

Hi Annieliz21

I too think you%26#39;re expecting quite a lot for £80 - I can wholeheartedly recommend U Zlateho Kola (At the Golden Wheel) in the Hradcany district. The hotel has got a very high rating (#18) on TA and it certainly meets your criteria of character, location and good breakfast. However it comes at a price - about 150 euros a night for a double. You could check it out on venere.com which is very informative; you can also do a booking without deposit on venere.
