Taxi query...

Any one any idea how long I should allow to travel by taxi from Uvoz, Mala Strana area to the State Opera House?

We%26#39;ve tickets there on our first night and don%26#39;t want to cut it so fine we jeapordise getting in, but also to take best advantage of the short time we%26#39;ll have to get ready.

But I have no idea of the distance or how long to allow for taxi ride.

Any one any ideas?

think you will find that the state opera house is at the top of wenslaslas square, way to far to walk for a performance, would think taxi should be about 10---15 minutes, although one of the experts may have done it and give you a better idea

40 minutes walk I would say. Take the 22 or 23 tram down to malostranske namesti, then the green metro to muzeum. muzeum metro is 5 minutes walk from the state opera house. allow 30 minutes or so. When you come out of the muzeum metro, take the first steps on the left, then the escalator at the top. Walk past the muzeum, across the street with the barriers and round to the zahrada opere restaurant, but instead or carrying on down the stairs, walk along the main busy street, past the carpark on your left and round the back of the opera house to the front. this saves having to go right to wencleslas square and then walking along willsonova and then through a dingy passage to the opera house. The old direct metro exit was closed on the insistence of the US embassy because all the opera goers are a security threat to radio free europe (which is next door to the state opera house).

If you have eaten before the opera, walking back through the oild town and across the charles bridge at night is great
