Just a week until vacation! We are staying at an apartment on V Olsinach, not too far from the Skalka metro station. I have not had any luck finding info on local (within a 10 minute walk) pubs or restaurants. Also, it looks like there is a Tesco near the Skalka station. Is that a grocery and/or department store? Does anyone know this area? We%26#39;ll be arriving late in the day (and probably tired and hungry) and I%26#39;m looking for convenient groceries or pubs.

The tesco right is basically next to the metro stop. It is a huge grocery store. Any pub around there probably wont have anyone who speaks english, and probably no english menu, but it will be cheap.

V olsinach is a street about a mile long and strasnicka metro station may well be nearer where you are staying than Skalka
As ayerbags says, there are a number of local pubs around, but they will probably not have english menus. Slalka metro is actually about 10 minutes walk from tesco (which is open nonstop).
what you are advised to do is to buy a 3 or 7 day public transport ticket from the prague transport authority booth you will see when you come out of customs at the airport. At least there, they speak english
where you are staying is a long way out for an apartment. I would seriously look about staying nearer the centre (but I guess that this may be too late to change now)

Thanks for the info! I know we are out from the city center - but the trip was a gift :) I%26#39;ll learn my way around the metro!
