where to buy 7 day ticket, or do I need one?

Hi,

I will be coming to Prague this Friday, we are staying through Tuesday. I would love to hear some information about the easiest way to navigate the metro, trams, etc. I was thinking to buy a 7 day ticket so I don%26#39;t need to worry about anything--can I buy it at the main train station? We are arriving from Germany via train. Thank you soooo much, in advance.

Only Wasteels would sell it at the main station. When you exit the platforms you arrive on the upper concourse. Wasteels is over on the left. I%26#39;ve bought a 3 day pass here before but, I can%26#39;t be sure about the 7 day. If necessary, buy a few single tickets to get you started and then go to a tourist info centre (Old Town Square) to get the 7 day pass.

You don%26#39;t say if you are arriving at Holesovice (trains from berlin and Dresden arrive here), or at Hlavni nadrazi station (trains from Munich and Nurnburg arrive here - and this is where Wasteels is).

At the ticket machines of both metro stations, you can buy single ticket and 24 hour tickets. Whether you need a 7 day ticker depends on where you are staying

I%26#39;m going to arrive at Holesovice and would like to buy a 7 day ticket immediately. Is that possible? And how can i validate it?

We tried to buy a 7-day ticket at Holesovice Station and were told they only had 3-day tickets. We ended up just buying individual tickets to get us to Old Town Square and then got 7-day tickets at the main Tourist Info Office on the Square. And yes, you really do need one...even though Prague is a relatively small city, you don%26#39;t want to spend all of your time walking from one end of it to the other.

7 day tickets should be able to be puchased from the metro office aty Holesovice. If they don%26#39;t, you can buy 24 hour tickets from the ticket machines. 7 day tickets can also be purchased at the ticket offices at Muzeum and Mustek metro stations.

You validate the ticket in the orange machine when you first go into the metro - the ticket is valid for 7 days or 24 hours from that time

Thanks peb7, I%26#39;ll go look for that. It would be a waste to spend money on tickets if I%26#39;m planning on buying a 7 day pass.

single ticket is only 20 crowns maximum - less than a euro

Passes

There are several short-term and long-term passes available:

• Short-term (tourist) passes

24-hour pass: 80 Kč

3-day pass: 220 Kč

7-day pass: 280 Kč

15-day pass: 320 Kč

if you are not staying pretty central I reckon it would be hard to NOT save money with one of these. they also allow you a small discount on train fares going out of prgaue e.g. to Karlstyn
