French Restaurant & Municipal House

Does anyone have experience with French Restaurant in Municipal house? Here%26#39;s my questions, I%26#39;m thinking of seeing a performance at Municipal House, seemed convenient there%26#39;s a restaurant nearby, is it worth eating there? How%26#39;s the food? Furthermore, for the weekend of November 24-26 do you think concerts are fully booked already? Should I try buying tickets online or wait to get there?

there is also the Plsenska resturant downstairs that does a more Czech orientated menu amd I think you should have no major problem getting a table there.Prices in the Municiple house are a bit more that many other places but it is a very nice place.There is another thread about this.

There are several Halls in the Muiciple house were concerts and performances take place and depending on what time of performance and in what hall can make a difference to it%26#39;s populariy.If it on in the main hall ,I would say book ,if in the smaller halls for a short concert you will probably get tickets on the day.I have always had people trying to sell me tickets for shows every time i have passed the Municiple house and have bought tickets on the day of performance before.

Well.. I ate there years ago before it turned French. The art nouveau interior is absolutely amazing. The menu looks quite good -- but the prices are absolutely top end for Prague (and I eat in a lot of nice restaurants).

I%26#39;ve never eaten there, partly because of the high prices and partly because I%26#39;ve really never heard any feedback, positive or negative on the place -- unlike many other of Prague%26#39;s restaurants. If I heard one credible rave, I%26#39;d give it a shot mysfelf, but there are plenty of other choices.

My favorite overall restaurant in Prague for quality, value, service, and atmosphere is just a few steps away -- Kogo in Slovansky Dum. Italian-Mediterranean. Big, open, modern restaurant. I could eat their Risotto Adriatico every day.

Also, the halls in Municipal House (Obecni Dum) are beautiful. But if you are really into music, many of the performances there are not considered the highest quality and oriented toward tourists.

Brewsta

You amy be able to help. I am looking for some %26quot;local%26quot; Christmas choir concerts around Prague between 12th and 18th December, do you have any ideas?

|||

brewsta is spot on. French restaurant in obecni dum is for eating in the surroundings (not for the food). It is good experience, but you can eat much better for less in Prague.

The Christmas market on the old town square often has choirs singing. if you want a real christmas carol concert, the local Anglican church has its carol service on 17th December, so will be like home from home - unlike with Czech carols, at least you will be able to understand what thye are singing.

for concerts, go to www.ticketsbti.cz and look at concerts on the left hand side. concerts are rarely sold out in prague

Thanks peb7, are you able to tell me which church and time the carol concert is in on 17th December please?

Last year I went to a concert by The Charles University Choir in St Simon and Jude, it was excellent, but I am flying home before their performance this year unfortunately.
