Just Returned from Prague

First off, I would like to thank all the folks who replied to my pretrip questions. It was very helpful. Here are a few observations.

Airport Transfer - we used Cedaz on the way to our hotel, 480K. They advertise 1-4 people but 8 were crammed in our van. Trip only lasted 20 minutes though. We got the hotel to ring a cab for our trip to the airport, 600K.

Hotel Kampa Garden was just excellent. Decent size room, big washroom, TV, fridge. Only complaint is hard bed!! Good breakfast and just excellent location, leterally 60 seconds from Charles Bridge. Also free internet.

Castle and St Vitalis(sp?) Cathedral was just magnificent. Even got to go to 7 a.m. mass which gave me an inside view of the Cathedral well before the crowds got there. Changing of the guard was impressive. Get there early for the noon show, get a spot inside the front sqare not outside by the guard booth,

Restaurants and pubs just about everywhere. Our meals were hit and miss trying to find something we enjoyed but wasnt too bad. It could all be washed down with excellent beer. Really enjoyed the Starropen???

Charles Bride with the statues, craft vendors and live music was just excellent.

Old Town Square should not be missed. We got a lot of our souvenirs from the craft booths there. Excellent choices and good prices.

Like most cities there seemed to be a glut of MacDonalds and Coca Cola and small ticky/tack cheap souvenir shops. Once you got past that the beauty of the city was so awesome.

Just sitting in Old Town Square having beers and lunch watching people go by was a pleasure in itself. Czech people were very friendly and helpful.

All in all it was a wonderful visit.

Staropramen

to be fair on cedaz, the price of 480 crowns for 1 to 4 people is advertised as being in a shared minibus of 8. If you want the whole minibus to yourself, you pay double - 960 crowns

So glad you enjoyed your trip. We will be staying at the Kampa Garden in May. Did you find the room at all attractive? Everyone seems to feel it has the best location.

Can you recommend any restaurants you particularly enjoyed? Old town square sounds wonderful.
