Prague in March

I%26#39;m hoping to take my fiance to Prague before our wedding. This will be my fourth time in Prague, and his first.

What can I expect weatherwise in March? The first time I went in February and it was pretty miserable. Christmas was okay and Aprl was positively lovely, so I%26#39;m not sure what to expect.

Many thanks

Jenny

Weather at the beginning of March is often very different from at the end of March. Expect winter with snow at the beginning of March, and if you are lucky, spring at the end of March

thanks Peb7.

As for the winter, is it bearable (we went to Krakow in March last year and it was cold but fab) or miserable?

We are trying to come when it%26#39;s cheap because all our money is tied up with the wedding, but I want him to enjoy it as it%26#39;s my fave city

winter is bearable - people live here every winter and survive. Prague takes on a different view when there is snow. You say above that you have been in February and at Christmas and early March isn%26#39;t too much different. As the air is dry here, even minus 10 doesn%26#39;t feel any colder than zero in england - the cold is not a damp cold which seeps into your bones; it is more like walking into a deep freeze. Therefore if you have good thick boots, gloves and hat, it is entirely bearable.

if it is really cold, you just stop every now and then at a pub for some becherovka (which is far more effective than a cup of coffee for warming you up)

I was in Prague during early March this year,There was a bit of snow on a couple of days, and one night there was a heavy frost. It was cold and probably a bit colder than Scotland ,but it does not have the damp pentrating coldness we experience in the UK.

I loved it and the weather didn%26#39;t stop us enjoying may of the things we have previously experienced in Prague.

A walk on Petrin Hill was however treacherous as the snow there had been compacted with people walking on it.

click on more about unclegus and look at some of the photos I took during 3-10th march this year, might get an idea of the conditions.
