Restaurant advice

I am visiting Prague from 15 to 18 December with my wife, and would appreciate anyone%26#39;s views on whether the Plzenska Restaurant in the Municipal House and Ambiente Pasta Fresca are both worth visiting.

Also , any recommendations for dining on our last evening would be very welcome.

Haven%26#39;t eaten in Plzenska Restaurant, but absolutely loved Ambiente Pasta Fresca. The food is outstanding, the staff is very friendly and the service wonderful. We ate there twice and found it consistently great both nights.

Also...we ate downstairs both times. Never ate upstairs, so don%26#39;t know if service is different upstairs.

The Pilsner Restaurant, located in the basement of the Municipal House, is a classic Prague pub with hearty fare and half-liters of Pilsner Urquell. Two things to point out thought: it will be a little pricier than average places (the beer was about 90!); and it does attract tour groups. The art deco interior is worth the trip inside the Municipal House....

I have been in the Plzenska resturant once about 3 years ago and found the food and service very good,but it%26#39;s worth visiting for the decor alone.The Toilets were some of the most stunning I have been into ,way way over the top Art Deco.The American Bar next door is a nice small intimate bar for a drink before or after a meal,and you can also arrange a tour of the whole building (I did this in March this year).

If you go to %26quot;more about unclegus%26quot; and click on photos there is a picture of me in the American bar of the Municiple house.

All the Ambiente group restaurants are good. The Obecni Dum interiors are amazing, but 90 crowns for a beer? That%26#39;s crazy high for Prague. I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;ve ever paid that much, maybe 60 or 70 at a nice place. A beer at my local hangout in Mala Strana is 28 crowns for half a liter.

as unclegus says at the municipal house, you pay for the surroundings and a beer at 90 crowns is worth it. Wouldn%26#39;t eat there though; the plzen restaurants run by the kolkovna group (kolkovna and olympia are better). will say that ambiente restaurants are good. Not for those who want a quiet evening and it feels sometimes a bit like fast food, but for good fare at reasonable prices, you can see why they are very popular
