vienna is direct train connection from prague. Journey takes about 4.5 hours. If you are coming for 12 days or so, you can easily spend 4 or 5 days in Vienna, or even more, if you want to escape to the mountains for snow

On hotels, let us know what kind of price / comfort / facilities you are looking for.

Thanks for answering. Since I asked the question, our travel plans became more definite, so we will be going to Prague on Dec. 27 until Jan.2. We will go to Vienna for Xmas and to Prague for New Year.

In terms of comfort/price - something in old Prague, preferable 4 stars - around 200 USD/night - is that reasonable?

Also, if you have any New Year celebrations to recommend - I checked the pragueexperience.com and there r so many offers, but which one to choose?

Restaurants? 10 top must-sees for 1st time tourists? Thanks!!!

Bellagio, Maximilian and Casa Marcello are all on quiet streets in the old town; but for new year, they may well be more than $200 per night.

For new years celebrations, you do not need a commercial company like Prague Exeprience. Just book yourself a restaurant (which one depends of course on how much you want to pay and what kind of food / luxury you are looking for) and before midnight, go down to the river to watch the midnight fireworks
