The C Metro line goes to Vysehrad station. You can connect at Muzeum station from the A line which goes by old town square and Mustek and the bottom of Wenceslas Square. Vysehrad is a ground level station so you will see the Cathedral (St. Peter and Paul) to the west. It%26#39;s a short walk from there.

Alternatively you can take tram 24 from Wenceslas Square (Vaclaske Namesti) to Albertov and walk up the hill from there. Either way is a short ride and walk.

There is a cafe just outside the Cathedral which is a good place for coffee and snacks and another across the statue grounds. If you are there in the summer, there are several setups around the grounds where food and drinks are offered. I%26#39;m not aware of restaurants in the area so perhaps a local expert can ask, although it is not far from the main restaurant areas so a short ride will get you back.

Vysehrad takes half a day at most, but is worth going for the view of the city and the restored basilica which is wonderful inside.

As csaconsult says, the best way to get there is by metro and then to get back, walk down the steps by the ramparts and cacth the 17 tram which runs all the way along the river embankment to the rudolfinium.

Cheers guys, much appreciated.

I%26#39;ve had lunch a couple of times in the other restaurant there, first one you come to from the metro, and enjoyed it.

Oh and when you get back don%26#39;t tell everyone how great Vysehrad is, its nice to keep a peaceful, quiet corner ;-))
