Cristmas Markets, Restaurants, & Bars

We%26#39;re off to Prague December 2nd for 3 nights to soak up a bit of pre-christmas atmosphere. Where are we likely to find Christmas markets, would it be just in the Old Town and Wenceslas Square or are there others? Also any suggestions for must do%26#39;s for this time of year?

Can anyone tell me if there is still a little restaurant called U Suteru, off Wenceslas Square down a little side street. We went there a few years ago, on our only other visit to Prague, and enjoyed the food so much went back to eat a 2nd time (something we wouldn%26#39;t normally do - so many restaurants to try). As I recall the bill was VERY cheap also, both for beer and for food - an added bonus.

On the same note, any suggestions for good eateries and bars gratefully received.

While I%26#39;m on here I should also ask, what day of the week is the Jewish museum closed. On our last trip we planned to go on our last day, but when we got there it was closed.

28 DAYS TO GO!!!!!

Hi there,

We are going to Prague on 23rd dec for 3 nights. I found a website www.pragueexperience.com %26amp; it details when %26amp; where the markets will be. It also has other info on restaurants %26amp; activities etc which might be useful for you.

Have fun.

U Suteru is a hotel now and they do have a restaurant, but it is not the same anymore; I remember well the fantastic cuisine they used to have. I think the owner/ chef was Belgium.

The Jewish museum/ sights are closed on Sabbath.

Bars there are a lot located around the Old Town Square (Bugsies, Tretters, Ocean Drive...) and there are lots and lots of good restaurants as well. Cafe Lamborghini (good vegetarian place, more for lunch), Pravda, Barock, Dahab if you like Middle Eastern food etc.

Thanks to you both for the info.

I have to say Martina, I%26#39;m really sorry U Suteru is no longer as good as it used to be. Oh well, we%26#39;ll just have to seek out some new restaurants.

I%26#39;m informed there is a restaurant below our hotel - U Tri Bubnu (3 Drums), anyone know if it%26#39;s any good?

christmas market on the old town sqaure and wencleslas square open on december 2nd. Old town square is good for atmosphere, but is crowded and sells much tourist tat. The local market on namesti miru is much better, especially if there is snow, but it closes at 7pm each night. There is a good restaurant on the square called sahara cafe you can go to afterwards

3 drums serves staple czech food in a smoky atmosphere; you can get better in prague

The good restaurant we were talking about below your hotel (in another post) is called Ambiente Brasileiro - U tri bubnu is a completely different restaurant, and Peb7 is right - you don%26#39;t want to eat there.
