I read your Golist and it would appear we have similar interests i.e. good food and beer in good surroundings. I am going to Prague this Christmas for 4 days, could you recommend a few beer halls/restaurants. We were in Prague last Christmas but because of the heavy snow we could%26#39;nt do much in the way of exploring at night, resulting in us paying through the nose for imitation Czech food and beer!
Your help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Davie

Beer halls. My favourite three are U zlateho tygra, U vejvodu and U Medvicku, all within about 5 minutes of eachother south of the old town square.
Good non rip off Czech restaurants in the centre are Kolkovne on V Kolkovne street and Lary Fary on Dlouha street, again just off the old town square

The ones Peb mentions are all excellent and U Vejvudo my favourite.There is a bar as you go in ,but go down the stairs and you enter a fairly big beer hall ,food was very good and the beer excellent,prices in here are very good for city centre and the service excellent.U Zlateho Tygra (the Goldeb Tiger ) is a grate place but trying to get a seat there is difficult,the beer and atmoshere there is superb.U medvicku is also very good for food and drink,the also have a shop that sells lots of beer related goodies.I believe they do enterainment in a new place at the back of the pub,but i have not been there for that.

If you google the names of the pubs you should be able to get their websites,I have details at home,but I am at work at the moment.

I would have put U Pinkasu at that list as well, unclegus and Peb. I find that pub a little better than U Medvidiku and U Vejodovu.
U Zlatheo Tygra is like heaven, I agree upon that!

I have never been in U Pinkasu but will make a point of going there next visit.

its full of norwegians
|||
seemingly the area I will be based for my holiday in Crete is full of Norwegians too.
|||
nothing wrong with that; they are a well behaved, polite, friendly and rich bunch
|||
I am quite looking forward to it.
I was in Norway a few years ago and enjoyed it very much.I did not enjoy the prices there .

Yes, there are norwegians all over Europe. The wealth in Norway due to our oil resources are well distributed, so ordinary working people (as myself ) can go travelling. Unfortunatly this %26quot;richness%26quot; makes our country very expensive (even for norwegians), but I doubt that the tourist come to norway for shopping: Which places did you visit, unclegus?
