Can anyone recommend any interesting and worth visiting restaurants near the Josef hotel? Prefer as local food as well as some italian or french. Thanks

We had an excellent meal at Lary Fary on Dlouha street, just 1 and a half blocks away. Doesn%26#39;t look like much on the outside but has a wierd basement dining room that is very nice. Food was terrific. Had we known, we would have ordered the meat skewers but were very satisfied with duck and beef dishes. As you walk toward the Old Town Square there are several French restaurants and the Pasta Fresca italian on Kolkovna (? spelling) - we ate at the latter also very good. The hotel concierge will help you with dining needs - she got us to Lary Fary. Also on their website they have a list of recommmended restaurants.

DaNico and L%26#39;Angolo also on the same street, Dlouha, as Lary Fary are also good. La Provence (the upstairs brasserie, not the downstairs more formal restaurant) on the corner of Stupartska and Mala Stupartska serves good frecnh food. The local restaurant called Escape on Tynska is good. all within 5 minutes walk of the hotel

I second L%26#39;Angolo for Italian-Mediterranean. The risotto frutti di mare is nice.

For French, La Provence is not far away -- a bit pricey though.

Also near that is Le St.-Jacques -- never been there so don%26#39;t know if it is good, but a smaller, intimate place and sometimes have live music at their upright piano.

For local, there is good Czech food in an interesting underground space at U Pavouka on Celetna 17 (in the passage). They have a great acoustic guitar duo that play there Weds-Sun evenings. Beautiful singers and players.

Or you can try Kolkovna (great Pilsner Urquell beer) on V Kolkovne off Dlouha, but it fills up fast. Koleno (pork knee) is a specialty. Might need to book.
