Essensia restaurant at Mandarin Oriental

Has anyone eaten at the above - if so ,what was the food, ambience and prices like. Thanks in anticipation.

Asian fusion. Feels like you are in a cold stone room under a tented roof. Food isn%26#39;t bad and there are plenty of people to serve you. You can eat a lot better in Prague for the same price. Doesn%26#39;t compare with coda in the hotel aria, or the alchymist club, for example; both within 5 minutes walk.

I would only go there if I was staying in the hotel and wanted to eat first evening without needing to struggle to find somewhere else

I agree it has a bit of a cold atmosphere, but the food is excellent! Real Asian food. The rooms are part of an old monastery, vaulted ceilings, very elegant. For the same money you can eat at any of the other restaurants in Prague with much more ambiente. I would not go to a hotel restaurant here, the choice outside of hotels is so good and much cheaper.

what about coda? That is a hotel restaurant

I love the Aria hotel and the staff, but the restaurant Coda lacks atmosphere. The service is excellent, the staff just fantastic und the food, no question. But it is almost always empty, in the evening the bad light concept makes it even less cozy. This is my view.

Where is coda

aria hotel. Better in the summer when you can sit on the roof terrace. As martina says, in the winter, the indoor restaurant doesn%26#39;t have the same ambience, but the food is good.

The terrace on the roof at Coda/ Aria hotel is one of the best in Prague!

I have eaten there for the second time just a few days ago. Quite some changes regarding athmosphere and decoration. Before it was a little cold inside, but they enhanced the image by putting some more art, pictures, table deco, etc.; I quite like it.

It is definately priced above average in Prague, but worth it and the food was great, as well as the service.

Agree on the coldness yet pretty good food of Essensia. One of the better Asian restaurants in town, but would only be considered average in New York or Paris.

Maybe I should try Coda again. Seems we often have bad luck with restaurants people rave about. We went to Coda shortly after it opened and had lobster rolls that were mealy and tasted funny. We complained and got free deserts, which was a waste in the end because we became ill later.

but then you rave about kogo and whenever I go, I always get poisoned there
